The Shorty Interview
with Shakespeare B Trust

What's your best tweet?
It hasn't been written yet, so watch this space!
What are six things you could never do without?
We couldn't do without creativity, generosity, curiosity, inspiration, and of course social media and Shakespeare!
How do you use Twitter in your professional life?
Share and read the latest news from theatres and museums from around the world.
What's your favorite Twitter app?
Hootesuite, as it is really useful for keeping track of all the different conversations taking place on Twitter about Shakespeare.
Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter is great for sharing the latest projects, but you can't beat Facebook when it comes to sharing photos of Shakespeare's Houses.
What was the funniest trend you've seen?
#ZombieShakespeare made me laugh, where would you take Shakespeare if he was alive today?
What feature should Twitter add?
A feature to change tweets into Shakespearian language would be fun and of course very useful.
Who do you wish had a Twitter feed but doesn't?
William Shakespeare appears to have an account, several in fact, so I think we're all sorted.
What are some words or phrases you refuse to shorten for brevity?
You only live once (YOLO). Life's short, but not so short that you have to abbreviate everything.
Is there someone you want to follow you who doesn't already? If so, who?
We don't have the biggest following on Twitter, but they're passionate about Shakespeare, so we're happy!
Have you ever unfollowed someone? Who and why?
I don't think so; it would take something quite extreme.
Why should we vote for you?
We love social media and it is central to our digital conversation about Shakespeare's life, work and times!
Terms you wish would start trending on Twitter right now?
It would be amazing to see #ShakespeareFilm trending for our short film competition!
What's the most interesting connection you've made through Twitter?
We've connected with some amazing Shakespeare organisations and bloggers from around the world.
Hashtag you created that you wish everyone used?
I wish everyone would use #ShakespeareFilm as we're running our first Shakespeare short film competition at the moment.
How do you make your tweets unique?
We tweet about the very latest Shakespeare news, projects and blogs so our Twitter followers are the first to hear what we are doing.
What inspires you to tweet?
Seeing how much people enjoy our tweets!
Ever get called out for tweeting too much?
Never before, we try and tweet quality of quantity.
140 characters of advice for a new user?
In the words of Oscar Wilde, 'Be yourself; everyone else is already taken'
How long can you go without a tweet?
We have quite a bit to tweet about so it's not long, but we try not to bombard our followers!
What question are we not asking here that we should?
Why do you want to win a Shorty Award?
How do you imagine Twitter changing?
As more and more arts organisations, museums and heritage properties make the most of Twitter, it will become even more interesting!
Who do you admire most for his or her use of Twitter?
We're biased, but our Honorary President @stanley_wells uses Twitter in a great way, to start and have interesting conversations.
Who is the funniest person on Twitter that you follow?
@samuelpepys tweeting as the seventeenth-century diarist about events of 1660 makes me smile.
What is one of the biggest misconceptions of Twitter?
That people just tweet about the mundane.
Why should people follow you?
We share lots of interesting Shakespeare projects, blogs, videos and news.
Can you name some one-of-a-kind Twitter accounts that you follow?
@IAM_SHAKESPEARE tweeting ‘the complete works of Willy Shakes on Twitter, line by line. All 112,000+ of them’ is the brainchild of Joshua Strebel (@strebel) and is very entertaining.
How do you decide what to tweet?
If we think something is interesting and related to Shakespeare, directly or loosely, we'll tweet!
How do you use social media to motivate yourself or others to live a healthier life?
We love to use social media to encourage people to get active in the gardens at Shakespeare's Houses.
How has social media helped bring your family closer together and #keepgoodgoing?
Our international Shakespeare family has grown thanks to Twitter! #keepgoodgoing
Why'd you start tweeting?
To share all our wonderful online projects and news, as well as to reach out to everyone in the world who loves Shakespeare.
Has Twitter changed your life? If yes, how?
Twitter allows us to have a global conversation about Shakespeare, so surely that is life changing!
What do you wish people would do more of on Twitter?
Well, we love it when people tweet about Shakespeare, so more of that please!
How will the world change in the next year?
Our bit of the digital world is going to see some exciting changes with more blog posts, online exhibititions and a short film competition.
What are some big Twitter faux pas?
Following purely to be followed, where is the fun in that?
What will the world be like 10 years from now?
The world will not be all that different, I'm sure what made the audience of Shakespeare's day laugh and cry is often the same as today.
